A Plus Quilt for Nora

I'm so happy that I was able to get this quilt finished in time to take it with us to Louisville so that I could give it to Nora, Luke's girlfriend, in person. I thought it appropriate to make hers a "plus quilt" like Luke's but with colours inspired by her super fast, bright pink racing shoes. Nora is a hurdles and high jump specialist on the Bellarmine University track team.

I didn't have time to photograph the finished quilt before we left and didn't have time for a proper photo shoot while we were there. Nora might take some pictures for me or maybe I'll have some time when we go back to Louisville for Seniors' Day in April. I'd really like to get a good photo of the back, which is bright pink minky. It really shows up the beautiful quilting that Lynnette of Ladybug Longarm Quilting in Saskatoon was able to do for me with short notice. Here's Nora with her quilt.

We were able to see two of Luke's lacrosse games while in Louisville. Both of the games were on Saturdays ... both deliciously warm and sunny. Sun screen was required! What a welcome change from cold and snow. And ... bonus ... the boys won both games! That's Luke ... No. 10 in white.

Don and Sylvia, Kevin's parents, were able to join us for their first trip to Louisville. Don, a forever baseball fan, really enjoyed the Louisville Slugger Museum and factory. This is he and Sylvia showing off their batting stances. Kevin and I visited the museum the first year we were there and it really is an excellent experience.

Luke toured us around Bellarmine University campus. All of us ... not just me ... were especially impressed with their library and the Thomas Merton special collection room. The library is where Luke does most of his studying.

Hannah flew in from Vancouver. It was her first trip to Louisville and it was great for she and Luke to spend some time together in what has become his stomping grounds for the past five years.

We stayed a few nights at the beautiful downtown, historic Brown Hotel before driving to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee for a couple of days. Then we came back to Louisville and stayed in my favourite place - the historic Inn at Woodhaven. It's a beautiful bed and breakfast that I would love to live in. It had an attached room with a daybed for Hannah and we had our own balcony, which was lovely because we had a bit of beautiful weather while we were there. Honest, the pictures look exactly like it did while we were there. The bed is the highest I've ever slept in and there was an incident that had Hannah and I doubled over with laughter while watching Kevin demonstrate his method for getting into bed. Kevin's parents stayed in the beautiful Rose Room. Previous years we've stayed in the Derby Room and the Garden Room. It's less than a 10 minute drive from here to Bellarmine University.
